There are many reasons for wanting to know how to find the publisher of a book.
Perhaps you’ve just finished a gripping fiction read and are eager to see what else is on offer.
Perhaps you’ve just eagerly devoured the final chapter of an interesting nonfiction title and can’t wait to continue your education.
Or perhaps you’re simply looking to carry out some research ahead of publishing your next book.
No matter the reason, there are several ways to find the publisher of a book.
Read on to discover techniques for both print books and digital texts.
Finding The Publisher Of A Print Book
As much as I love digital publishing, there is nothing quite like a printed book.
The feel of the book in your hands. Not to mention that unique book smell.
So where exactly should you turn in your printed book to find its publisher?
Typically, the publisher name for any given book is printed at the bottom of its title page. The info can also often be found on the rear of the title page. The technical term for this is the ‘verso’.
The title page should also contain the book publisher’s location. This is important for some citation systems.
You can also take the ISBN from the print book and use it in the ISBN method detailed below.
Many modern books also feature the website and social media info of their publisher. This is a great way to quickly check out other titles. You can also sign up for the mailing list if you’re a true fan of the book publisher in question.
Using Amazon Kindle To Find A Book’s Publisher
Amazon really is an unstoppable juggernaut.
There are very few things you cannot buy on Amazon. Books are no exception.
Almost every type of book possible, both print and eBook, is available via Jeff Bezos’ emporium.
So how exactly do you find out publication info for a book on Amazon?
Simply click on any given book title. You will be taken to the book’s sales page.
Scroll down until you come to the ‘Product Details’ section as seen below.
You can clearly see the name of the book publisher. This isn’t clickable. However, it’s easy to carry out a quick Google search of the book publisher’s name and discover plenty more about them.
Using ISBNs To Find The Publisher Of A Book
A book’s ISBN is like a serial number or fingerprint. Every book has one and they are all totally unique.
So where do you find the ISBN info in a book?
On the back cover, above the bar code, you will see a 10 or 13 digit number. This is the ISBN.
Once you have the ISBN for a book you want to find the publisher for, simply head over to https://isbnsearch.org/. You will see a search screen like the one below.
Enter the ISBN into the search box, as seen above.
You will then be given the book publisher along with other info as seen in the screen below.
These results are awesome as you get not only the publisher of the book, but also the book cover, and any deals available at the time.
Using Google To Find A Book’s Publisher
We use Google for almost everything, so of course we can use it to find a book’s publisher as well.
To find out publisher info using Google, simply enter ‘Publishers for’ followed by the name of the book. You can see an example of this in the following image.
Carrying out a search like that will return a results page like in the image below.
As you’re already on Google it’s super easy to go ahead and find out more about the publisher and what else they have to offer.
Finding A Book’s Publisher On Goodreads
Goodreads is a much-loved community of readers and writers.
One of my favorite features about Goodreads is its list section. It’s an amazing place to discover a new favorite book of almost any type.
On any Goodreads book page, you can easily see the publisher info underneath the ‘get a copy’ section.
You can see this information in the following picture.
How To Find The Publisher Of A Book On KOBO
The book publisher info on Kobo is a little harder to find, but it’s there if you look for it.
First, simply search for a book, or go straight to the book’s Kobo page if you have it bookmarked. You’ll see something like the below screen.
Scroll down until you reach the bottom of the page. The book publisher will be listed next to ‘imprint’ as seen in the following picture.
How To Find The Publisher Of A Book Conclusion

To recap, the main methods include:
- Looking at the title page in a print book
